One of my followers requested more posts on dining with more pictures. Well, I aim to please! Keep in mind I am not a professional food critic or play one on tv.
Last Friday, my wife and I battled Friday night Los Angeles traffic to get to a rare free event. Don’t know how she finds them, but you don’t hear me complaining!
Well, maybe just a little in traffic… Anyway, Malaysia Kitchen for the World put on a fabulous night market on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Tons of people lined up to get a taste of Malaysian cuisine. I lost count, but there may have been over ten restaurant booths each passing out mouth watering delights.
Some of my favorites included tasty satay skewers from Satay Malaysia.com and a yummy mini combo of beef, fried rice, and vegetables from Yazmin. The most entertaining host has to go to Starry Kitchen. His lemongrass chicken was delicious, but his enthusiasm and passion while showcasing his dish was off the charts. All this while wearing a sombrero and shouting out how he began his business! I’m looking forward to more events from them in the future and I plan on visiting these restaurants real soon. Yummm… More pictures too please.
We only have one Malaysian restaurant in Portland that I know of. Most of our free events have dried up since the rain started and now the whole city is hibernating.
Glad you enjoyed it! Will keep your request in mind. Too bad about everyone hibernating. Stay warm!
We don’t have any free events here. At least I’ve never heard of any or I would be there – eating!
Hopefully some will pop up in your area for the New Year!
LOVE Malaysian and Singaporean food!
Gotta have my Chicken Satay, Roti Canai, and Chili Crab!
Malaysia is a fantastic place to live and visit too.
Yum! Don’t think I tried Singaporean, but do love me some Thai food. Heard Malaysia is cool to visit. Lucky you, need to add that to my list of places to visit!
