Yakezie Challenge: Blake Griffin Dunk

I DID IT! The Yakezie Challenge began on 11/25/10 with an Alexa ranking of 12,799,807, took a brief detour as I cutover to a self-hosted site, (12/03/10, 12,200,834), and finally reached the finish line today (01/19/11, 196,225). This could not have been possible without the good folks at Yakezie. Their selfless support, advice, guidance, answers, comments, carnivals, pingbacks, the list can go on forever. I am truly grateful. After hitting this milestone, let’s take a look back.

Interesting how my articles on blogging picked up steam, however I did enter them in carnivals and roundups. The good news is my recent articles are also my most popular. Not sure if it’s because my writing is improving or I’m getting the word out better. Probably a little of both.

How am I going to celebrate? I just did! But here’s the twist. I am going on a stat diet. Thanks to Barbara Friedberg for introducing me to dieting. During this two month run I actually felt myself slightly distracted by checking all of my stats. What’s my new Alexa ranking? How many visits did I get? How many subscribers do I have? What’s my AdSense revenue? This list can go on forever, too. Just like watching a stock you own every minute, go up and down, it is a little draining and unproductive in the long run because you really can’t control it.

I am rededicating myself to what I called bread and butter. Developing better content, reading more, commenting more, entering more carnivals, improving SEO, and learning more about social media. Things that really help my bottom line. So from today, I begin my stat diet. I will not review any major stat until I hit 100K. I hope this tweak in my schedule produces even better content and results. Finally, enjoy Blake Griffin throwing down on New York Knicks’ center Timofey Mosgov. Thanks again for all your support and helping me slam dunk the Yakezie Challenge. KAH-BOOM!

How do you celebrate beating the Yakezie Challenge? What’s next for you when you do?

Blake Griffin is hands-down the best power-forward in the NBA. A redhead in the NBA. One is almost inclined to feel bad. (See: Brian Scalabrine) However, Griffin attacks the rim with such ferocity and reckless abandon that he has become recognized as a bully on the court. His highlights are so jaw dropping that opposing arenas are left with two options in his wake: deafening silence or raucous praise.

  10. In college, he hit his head on the backboard. In the NBA, he narrowly avoided decapitating himself on the rim. For a man who recently underwent serious knee surgery that has ended many careers, he shows unbelievable explosiveness. Don’t believe me? You can see every one of his highlights at http://www.blakethebully.com I have voted for him every day for over a month. Any true fan of the sport should do the same.
