Watermelon Festival 2013
Imagine your favorite fruit. Then imagine there is a festival dedicated to celebrating said fruit. How do you feel? Ecstatic? That’s exactly how I feel as the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club Watermelon Festival will be touching down at the Rose Bowl in a few weeks. Check it out if you are in the area and hope to see you there!
Stay Inspired!

The fabulous watermelon celebration returns for its 52nd year featuring watermelon carving demonstrations, watermelon recipe contests, watermelon eating contests, seed spitting contests, a wearable art contest, along with nightly prize drawings. The much anticipated coronation of the Watermelon Queen and her court is always a crowd pleaser, along with local bands and national touring acts for your listening pleasure. The bazaar marketplace, arcade games, watermelon-themed games and attractions and an array of festival food favorites and beverages make it fun for the whole family.
The festival is also pleased to announce the National Watermelon Promotion Board, as a new sponsor for this years’ event.
100% of funds raised by the Watermelon Festival are used by the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club help to support local youth and community activities, disaster relief, and to support health and vision conservation programs in California, across the nation and throughout the world. |
Oh wow I wish I lived nearby so I could go to this event. Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits.
Maybe next year! In the meantime, I’ll recap the event so you can learn more about it!
