The Five-Year Engagement Thank You Roundup
I’m a big fan of Jason Segel, but when you handcuff him with a more serious than usual comedy script, he is just a shadow of his hilarious, fun loving self. What is up with this new trend of producing comedies that look at the ugly under belly of relationships? Friend With Kids anyone? Don’t we go to the movies to escape? I guess you could take a break from your life by watching train wrecks, but that’s what reality tv is for. I always looked at Emily Blunt as a dramatic actress, but she did have some charming moments. Sadly, she suffers the same fate as her co-star as they both twist and turn through their challenging five-year engagement. Chris Pratt and Alison Brie steal the show as Segel’s best friend and Blunt’s sister. But if I could do it over again, I would pass on this relationship roller coaster.

The movie grossly underperformed. Opening in the US with at a dismal #5 when it was pegged to open at #1 has to be disappointing for all involved parties. Some concepts should stay just that. Personally, I have no desire to see it (talented cast or not). Thanks for the mini-review
I asked this before, do you work in movies or just a moviephile? Couldn’t agree with you more!
Gosh darnit. I really wanted this movie to be good. Thanks for saving me $20.
Sorry just calling it how I see it. What are you gonna do with that extra 20 now?
