Take A Break When You Need One

Hawaii Sunset
Last week my wife and I had planned on taking a little vacation with Baby Buck. Calmer heads prevailed and we ended up just taking time off from work because I wanted to keep my stress income ratio in check and use more of my Paid Family Leave. Running around a new destination with a six month old would have just piled on the stress and deprived me of even more sleep.

Just taking a break allowed me to bump my usual four hours of sleep closer to eight. We caught up on the chores that always got put on the back burner. We even attended a few events and seminars we normally couldn’t go to if we were working like the one put on by Redfin.

Final Thoughts

Some people might say my wife and I didn’t fully take advantage of our week off. I beg to differ. My sleep deprived body really needed to catch up on much needed Z’s. I got to bond with my little one and not worry about running around playing tourist. I feel totally rested and recharged to take on new challenges at work, push forward with my blog, and resume my parental duties.

When was the last time you took a break and what is preventing you from taking one now?

Stay Inspired!

Funny you mention this. We are going away for the weekend in a little while. A little R & R to revitalize the juices.

  2. My wife use to do that too me where I would want to take a vacation and I ended up more tired from the vacation then I was before. I agree that taking a break is needed and sometimes you just need to recoup and not do anything. The last break I took was a free weeks ago and I have another coming up next week.
