Samantha Brown Experience

As I prepped for the LA Travel and Adventure Show, I wanted to showcase my interviewing skills. I spent time learning more about the headliners and even created a list of questions in case I was lucky enough to nab an interview. Due to time constraints, I didn’t land any exclusives. But I did take in the fabulous Samantha Brown Experience!

If you have ever seen any of her shows, she is bubbling with enthusiasm everywhere she goes. I’m happy to say that she is the same in real life. She is funny and accessible like Ellen Degeneres and the cute All American girl next door ala Jenna Elfman (aka Dharma from Dharma and Greg) all rolled up in one.

She is an amazing story teller as she recalled her adventures from China where she barely escaped an attacking bear. She also shared a very touching story when she befriended two young Chinese girls. The entire audience let out a collective “Aawww.”

She even shared four useful travel items that she uses herself after over 10 years as a Travel Channel host. First, don’t forget ear plugs so you can take the edge off while you travel. Second, Peeky Balls so you can massage your aching back and quad muscles. Third, peanut butter, in case you need a late night snack and all eateries are closed. Finally, don’t forget a present from your homeland. She often brings a I Heart NY t-shirt. It goes a long way in breaking barriers and connecting with the locals of the country you are visiting.

After a very entertaining and informative talk, she opened up the floor for questions. I have to admit I was a little intimidated by the hundreds in the room and the famous, popular Samantha Brown. Can I shake off my star struck jitters and fire one of my interview questions or do I go crawling back to my seat like a coward? Think man, you have seconds to decide as the other braver souls were already lining up. Tune in next time for the stunning conclusion of the Samantha Brown Experience!

  1. Oh I love her show!!!! Unfortunately, I only seem to come across it every blue moon, but I would love to be a weekend warrior traveler 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you asked. LOL.

  2. I’ve never heard of Samantha before, but after watching your clip she seems like a great host!

I’ll have to start watching her on TV 🙂

I hope you break out of your deer-in-the-headlight jitters, and asked some great questions!

Hey! I jumped over from Yakezie… good stuff!

  4. I really like Samantha, but she annoys my husband. The best part of attending the travel show is the access to travel experts like Samantha, Rick Steves, Arthur Frommer and more.

Annoying? Too bubbly? I guess I can see that. I listened to Arthur Frommer, Andrew McCarthy, and Rick Steves as well. All had great presentations. Hope to write them up soon. So many topics, so little time!

I have never seen as engaging a television personality as Samantha Brown (with the exception of the equally cheery Rachael Ray). This firecracker of a hostess is the backbone of a slew of popular Travel Channel shows, including Great Hotels, Girl Meets Hawaii, Great Vacation Homes, Passport to Europe, and Passport to Latin America. The locations Samantha (affectionately known as Sam) and her team travel to are without a doubt breath-taking, but it is Sam’s inviting personality and unique perspective that takes us one step further, affording us the luxury of surpassing the all-too-common guided tour, instead giving us the opportunity to kick back for a spell, take in our surroundings, and walk away with an experience we’ll never forget.

Are you Sam or work on Sam’s PR team? That was an amazing write up and I couldn’t agree more! Seeing her in person, she lights up the room and lifts people’s spirits. Some people just have it and she’s one of the best. Thanks for dropping by!
