My Two Favorite Restaurants
I love my steaks, but I also have a weakness for combo deals and specials. Now that my toddler has a bigger appetite, I have been researching various Kids Eat Free offerings. After a few months of trial and error, Marie Callender stands above the rest.
Every Tuesday and Saturday, children under 12 eat free. Kids receive a menu with cartoon characters, puzzles, and two crayons. If your child gets fussy, hopefully you can distract them with their menu. I relied on hamburger sliders to quench my son’s hunger. But just last week, we were pleasantly surprised that he enjoyed the turkey dinner just as much. Their kids menu entrees and side orders look like adult portions. Their world famous cornbread is served upon request. To top it off, every kids meal comes with a slice of pie.
During the summer, adult customers could enjoy their Backyard BBQ Combos. For as little as $9.99, you could choose one of their delicious BBQ sandwiches. Or for a slight upgrade, you could dine on savory BBQ platters of your favorite meat. The piece de resistance is a slice of pie for dessert. Now that it is fall, the BBQ entrees have been replaced by the Perfect Pie Trio. Again, for as low as $9.99, you can select a meat pot pie, a salad, and a pie for dessert. Be on the look out for monthly, pie specials, too. I certainly hope they have dinner combos like these during winter and spring.
What happens if it is not Tuesday or Saturday and I wanted to go out to eat? That’s when my second favorite restaurant comes up to bat, Black Angus. Lucky for me, it is a steakhouse. They have one of the best birthday clubs around which they call Prime Club. Every year, a few weeks before your birthday, you will get an email for a free entrée up to $20.99. You will also get a complimentary scoop of ice cream on a pizookie, short for pizza cookie. The friendly staff will gather around your table, sing you happy birthday, and put a birthday candle on your desert for a birthday wish.
They have incredible Dinner for Two specials for $42 via special coupons in mail flyers or their Prime Club emails. Their appetizers could go up to $14 and their desert could go around $6. If you had to purchase these items separately, the total comes close to $60. They also feature combo specials like steak and shrimp or steak and lobster. I forgot to mention, every entrée comes with not one, but two side dishes. Their steak soup is very flavorful. Their kids menu does not have special free days. However, their grilled chicken breast is usually perfectly seasoned and moist. It runs for $5.99 and includes a side dish and a scoop of ice cream covered with fudge. Lastly, as you wait for your meal. You can keep your hunger in check with their delicious sweet molasses bread.
If you have kids under 12, I don’t think you can beat Marie Callender’s Kids Eat Free deal. To save even more, see if you can go during a combo special season like the Backyard BBQ or Perfect Pie Trio. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck, Dinner for Two, look no further than Black Angus. If you do have kids, ordering the grilled chicken breast with a scoop of ice cream should do the trick. If your booth is next to the sports bar, you can catch your favorite game. For everything else, you can tap into their Free WiFi!
