My San Marino Grill Brunch
My wife and son attended a mommy event so I was left to my own devices. Normally I would roll into a Starbucks, grab a brownie, and surf on their free wifi. Recently I’ve been making decisions that don’t feel normal or comfortable. I drove a few blocks more and popped into a local mom and pop named San Marino Grill established in 1965. Why not support a local small business?
When I walked in, I felt like I was in a movie. San Marino Grill is a quaint diner like the ones you see in Anytown USA. Who knows, maybe eating here is just what I needed to jump start me through my recent writer’s block. I was greeted by a pleasant waitress named Callie. I immediately scanned the specials and was about to order a apple cinnamon coffee cake to replace my brownie, but on second thought I needed a more hearty brunch as I would be running about through the afternoon.
I finally settled on the WIC (Walter Ivan Celic) English Muffin as I’m a sucker for hand-cut hash browns. It was a delicious concoction of scrambled eggs, melted cheese, ham on a toasted English muffin. It was pretty filling so I took some to go as a snack for later.
The regular patrons strolled in and greeted the waitresses like old friends. Can you say Norm from the Cheers bar where everyone knows your name? After hearing Callie catch up with one of her regulars, I complimented her on her pleasant attitude. She graciously said thanks and wrapped up my leftovers. I was ready to tackle my Sunday with a satisfied stomach and a warmed heart. One I would definitely not have found at Starbucks. Looks like it does pay to step out of your comfort zone.
Stay Inspired!

I like going to places like this and they are usually my choice when I can indulge in such. I might have to try this one day. 12.5 miles from my house at about 30 minutes. Sounds like a place I can handle.
