Bucket List Challenge

Dear Reader,

Yes, you. Not the person sitting next to you or behind you. Hope you’re doing well!

I’ve been blogging for two and a half years. In that time, I’ve read quite a bit about passive income, investing, retirement planning, and saving money. These are all very important, but then I thought, what about work life balance?

That’s when it struck me. Why do people try and rush through their bucket list when they are close to kicking the bucket? Why don’t I carve out some time to actively check off bucket list items now? This is not an excuse to ignore the items I listed above. This is just my personal attempt at balancing my life because lately I’ve tipping too much to following money related agendas.

I invite you to join me on this bucket list challenge. I’m starting off small with the hopes of tackling bigger ticket items after I get things rolling. Was there a place or event around where you live that you always wanted to visit or attend, but you always put it off till “one day”?

Last weekend I checked off visiting the Renaissance Faire. I’ve been wanting to go for years but always put it off. It was a small win, but it felt great to take action on balancing my life and checking off an item from my bucket list.

What’s in it for you?

Take a short break from building your empire
Check off one item on your bucket list
Use the momentum to make more positive changes
Showcase the uniqueness of your area
Perhaps stimulate your local tourism industry
Share with others and hopefully inspire them to do the same

If you choose to accept this mission, you have two weeks to complete it. Take a week to write a post about it and post it up by June 7th. Also send me a link so I can make a round up and link to your post. I will post my round up on June 10th.

I know this may not be your usual post topic, but stepping out of your comfort zone does wonders for the soul. If this is no interest to you, no hard feelings and I wish you the best in your endeavors. Finally, if you need my assistance with anything you are working on, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Stay Inspired!

I made some lists many years ago when I was younger and I think I did them all. I don’t make any formal lists these days, but I do make note now and then of things I might add and try to take care of them as soon as possible.

One thing I’ve always done is keep the goals realistic and manageable. That’s probably why my goals have always been so attainable. I’m happy with what I’ve done in life so far. Everything else from here on out is extra frosting on the cupcakes. And I love frosting!

  2. Buck, I’ve never made a list, but maybe I should. I have ideas in the back of my mind but I’ve never formally written them down. I’m in my 50s now and honestly, I think it would be fun to have a list. I know when I was a kid we did a lot of things that were fun as a family and I didn’t appreciate them. Some are really simple and not all that exciting, but I’d love to go back and retrace my steps so i can fully appreciate those experiences.

Great ideas on all counts Betsy! Making your list and retracing past family events, can’t go wrong on either counts. I think as we get older, we appreciate memories and experiences more than material items. Look forward to your post if you do decide to join the Bucket List Challenge!

  3. I always wanted to see castles and did go with my daughter to visit about 8 chateaux in France. I even liked exploring the ones that had mostly fallen down. Next summer I’m going to take a Rhine River cruise to see many castles along the river. Going with friends who also like to travel since my husband won’t fly that far. I’ve saved enough over the years to do it!

I have accepted your Bucket List Challenge, but wrote instead about some awesome things to do in St. Louis that are free. Not bucket list exactly, but worth a nice vacation. Easy on the family budget too!

Awesome deal Maggie! Would love to read about your trip if you write it up. Thanks for joining me on the challenge! Your St. Louis list rivals the best travel guides out there. So much fun and on a budget, too. You ever consider travel writing?

[…] Bucket List Challenge – I have a bucket list, but like many people, I haven’t given much thought to complete the items on said list in the near future.  Buck Inspire, though, has encouraged us to get those goals much sooner, while we have the time. […]
