Black Or White
This post was brought to you by Finance Fox and his look at Romantic Finance.
I’ll cut to the chase. A handful of my readers are saying my theme, especially the black background with white text is hard to read. I stubbornly pushed forward as I liked the spacey feel, it was unique because every other blog I read has the traditional white background, and I thought my content would more than compensate for the eyesore. Since my Five Dollar Logos post was so fun and helpful, I’ve decided to open this up as well.
Would you like to see Buck Inspire with a more traditional theme, with a white background, or leave everything as is? Your vote will count!
Blog Carnival
I also participated in a blog carnival. A blog carnival is like a bloggers fair, if you are wondering what that is.
Live Real Now hosted the Totally Money Blog Carnival #5 which included Nerd Wallet’s guest post Moving Up and On From Prepaid Debit Cards.
Posts from Buck Inspire were also mentioned in the following stimulating blogs.
Looks like tons of people enjoyed My Journey to Millions’ guest post on Accountability Will Lead to Success and my guest post Go Metro. It was mentioned all over the place!
Barbara Friedberg Personal Finance
Stoopid Success featured my post Maximize Your Business Travel.
Finance Fox and Broke Professionals enjoyed Adsense, Two Cents, Quit Blogging.
Finally, Beating The Index delivers a triple play with Maximize Your Business Travel, Accountability Will Lead to Success, and Entrepreneur Analysis.
Big thanks to all, please vote black or white, and Happy Valentine’s Day! 🙂
Buck
Buck, why only black or white, why not try other colors?
Hmmm, good point. MC always thinking outside the box! 🙂
I like the white background better; I do find this background hard on the eyes.
Don’t want to hurt readers’ eyes… Thanks! 🙂
White.
Thanks! 🙂
I have to go with white here. Maybe you can try another lighter color, but I think that a light background with dark text is best when reading on a computer screen.
I heard this before, but I was just being stubborn. Looks like a unanimous decision! 🙂
I like the white much better. Blend the ads again and this will be a nice change. Glad to see you interacting and listening to your readers – very few bloggers do that now.
Thanks it does “feel” better and cleaner. Guess I was stuck on being unique. Can’t be stubborn, if change is needed, make that change! 🙂
Put me down as another black-text-on-white background vote. (But I don’t see why you couldn’t add color elsewhere!)
Done, look at that quick service! 🙂
It looks great!
Thanks! I aim to please. 🙂
I find that black text on white background is easiest to read for me.
But how about this. Have your site have a darker colored background, but have the text and content areas have lighter/white backgrounds with black text? That’s what I do on my site since I like the look of a darker background, but prefer the readability of a white background with black text..
Great advice. I think I’m gonna try this theme out for a bit. I guess the white does make for easier reading. 🙂
Although the black is interesting, exciting and a little edgy, it is harder to read. Good design is more than color, showcase the rest.
Good point. Yeah gonna run with this new theme a bit. Guess I was trying to be too exciting and edgy. 🙂 How are things going for you?
I making progress (see Friday, 2/18), but it is getting a little harder. I am enjoying the process (still putting in a lot of hours), staying focused on the daily tasks, but encouraged with some of the results.
That’s great to hear. Keep it up! 🙂 What’s been the most challenging aspect for you? For me, there were times when I run into a wall, get a little busy, and almost need to push myself to post quality content. Been rolling along so far. I think the key is making it past six months I hear. I have a month or two to go. Been quite a ride.
I like the white background.. easier on the eyes.
Yeah I see what you mean. I guess I was blinded by design and trying to be unique. 🙂
Glad you went with the white, way easier to read like everyone has said.
Yeah, I finally came to my senses! 🙂 Would bad web design keep you from continuing to read someone’s blog?
Thanks for the great post. I am actually a big fan of Fiverr. So much so that I wrote a tutorial about how to make a significant income from it (almost) on autopilot. You can see details here if you are interested: Fiverr
