BI 002: Style vs Substance

Are you guys digging the new intro? One of my listeners suggested I make a cool intro for the show. Ask and you shall receive. Hope you guys like it and keep the suggestions coming.

Last week, I debated on Time vs Money. It looks like time wins! I have yet to try public transportation and hope to give it a shot one of these days. But I am really enjoying the extra hour of sleep.

Today we look at Style vs Substance. When my wife and I moved into our new apartment, we wanted to spruce up the place. We bought a fancy shower curtain with pretty, shiny, metallic shower curtain rings. It all looked nice, but over time, the rings grinded against the rail. I wiped down the rail, but it still grinds because it’s metal on metal. It’s a little jarring to hear the grinding sound just before a shower. Who would have thought?

I need your help listeners. Would you grin and bear it and stick to style or switch to substance by going with the more economical, plastic shower curtain rings? They may not be as pretty, but I’m guessing the grinding noise will go away. Let me know what you think, by leaving a comment below.

Thanks for listening, have a great weekend, and stay inspired!

Substance rules! The early morning shrill of metal on metal would be too much for me. Style v. substance is true for a lot of things. H M has built a business on it. I like boring good quality over style any day.

  2. What an intro! The bar is raised for the second week in a row. How did you come up with that production quality…please tell all.

Substance rules. Quality is better value over the long haul.

Love the intro. Sounds very professional and very cool–gets my attention for sure.

I’m a bad person to ask on this topic. I always squash style in favor of practicality and economy much to my wife’s dismay. Who really looks at the shower curtain rings anyway? I mean who looks that closely and for that long? The decorative might catch ones eye briefly but after a while you probably never notice it. It’s only shower curtain rings. My wife would probably beg to differ on a similar debate. In the case it comes more a case of peace versus bickering. But yeah, thumbs down on style if it interferes with my comfort or convenience.

  4. I’d go for substance. Practicality is way more important than style sometimes. Who wants to hear that jarring noise right when they want to shower in the morning? No thanks. Plastic rings for me, please.

  5. Neither; I’ll get rid of the shower curtains althogether and get a shower door. Style and substance in one!

  6. I wouldn’t like the noise of metal on metal either! Plastic rings don’t look so bad anyways, and they won’t get rusty or grimy in the way that metal in the shower can.

Like the intro, and you have a good “radio” voice. Next step, iTunes!
Go for plastic. In a pinch, they make good earrings. 🙂

It is official Buck! You should be on a radio! I don’t know how and when you are going to do it, but podcasting is definitely your thing. You are digging it man! 🙂 Looooved the intro.
