American Express Small Business Saturday

We all know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but did you all take advantage of Small Business Saturday? Rather than fight crowds and risk getting trampled, the family went to enjoy a nice dinner at a local eatery down the street.

The concept is simple. Spend at least $25 at a small business and American Express foot the bill. Two weeks prior, I enrolled into the program by submitting my name and American Express credit card number. I searched through their directory of small businesses that were participating in the program. I used my American Express card on Small Business Saturday.

Final Thoughts

My refund posted on my card the following Tuesday. Thanks American Express. Be on the look out for this deal next year because everyone wins. American Express gets great publicity, you get a $25 credit, the business gets additional sales, and the economy gets stimulated. Don’t think any deal from Black Friday or Cyber Monday can top that.

I tried real hard to spend money, but it didn’t happen! My brother-in-law picked up the dinner check and two of the businesses my wife frequented did not take American Express. I guess there is always next year.

I didn’t know about the American Express program. In fact, I don’t even know if I have an actual Amex card. I have a department store card that says Amex on it, but I don’t know how that figures.

I actually don’t even recall what I did last Saturday. I must have stayed home.
